Most of us don’t want our guests to know about our dirty laundry or the utility room where we keep it. These customers found a way to make the utility room a nice accent in their home and make it more accessible for larger baskets. They decided to add these prefabricated barn doors from Home Depot. The kit included the doors and all the hardware. We did have to make a header board to give a bit more clearance for the left door to slide past the HVAC controls. Additionally, our carpenters removed the old door and put in a new flush door jamb and trim so that there would be no hinge cutouts or other holes in the door frame.
The customer also wanted to replace the white “DIY” shelf they had made to put over the washer and dryer. Our Fort Worth Handyman Service replaced it with a nice solid 4’x6′ 2 inch thick wood shelf braced on the sides, so that there would be no middle support needed. We also made the shelf removable for access for future maintenance and dryer vent cleaning.
It turned out great!
